There are so many issues bigger than any one person that impact our happiness at work that our weekly Happier @ Work Tips probably can’t change all of them. Hopefully they can help elevate your personal happiness so you can rise above the chaos.
Since everyone’s happiness challenges at work are different some tips may not apply to you. Use the ones you can and ignore the others. If you find these tips helpful please share them.
On a post-it write down 3 things that you are grateful for about your job. Consider things like:
- It pays my bills
- Provides health insurance
- Vacation days
- My co-workers are the best
- Helping my customers makes me happy
- My boss rocks
- I get to work in my yoga pants
- My commute is short
- My job gives me work-life balance
- This job is a stepping-stone for the one I really want
You can have more than 3 and don’t limit yourself to our list.
Put this post-it in a place you can see it daily (or if you like our list, print or screen save it). Then, when you have one of those annoying work moments, you can quickly remind yourself about some of the “what’s rights” about your job.
If you can’t find 3 things that you are grateful for about your current job then consider updating your resume to job hunt, either at your current company or somewhere else, so you’ll be happier at work.
