We’re on Question 6 of our members share so we can get to know each other better.
Why should you answer these questions and read the answers?
Unhappy people can drain the happiness and optimism out of us if we let then. The best buffer, more happy friends. You can’t find happier people than our own Secret Society of Happy People.
We learned this and many other things in our Optimism Survey survey.
Over the next few weeks we’re going to ask some fun questions so you can get to know each other better – and read the responses for a happiness booster.
Today’s question is even more fun … because if you haven’t done anything goofy lately … do it today!!!
[Tweet “If you haven’t done anything goofy lately … do it TODAY!! Come join the fun!!”]
And, to make this an even HAPPIER experience, everyone who answers all of the questions will get a present from me!
You can answer the questions until we quit asking them:
For crazy hair day for the kids at my school, I put my hair up all crazy too 🙂
Uh, it’s been a while. Goofy? Hmmm…Well, my youngest daughter and I answer our phones (only with eachother) disquising our voices to try to fool eachother. That’s about as goofy as I get, I think.
I wore a red clown’s nose to a board meeting recently.
I want to attend YOUR Board meetings!
The last goofy thing I did is work related. I play in a symphony, and the goofy thing that I did has to do with a specific bowing that we string players have to play in one spot. The bowing is really quite goofy. I am still not sure if it was meant to be goofy, but when you mentioned that word I realized that just thinking of playing a bowing that is a bit goofy kind of makes the job a bit more fun, and easier to do.
Some composers, arrangers, and conductors enjoy having goofiness in music, so it might have been intended that way.
As my piano teacher said, “First ve must learn to ENCHOY the music!”
The last goofy thing I did… hm…. I don’t remember, so I’m going to take my ukelele to the off-leash dog park this afternoon and sing “Puff the Magic Dragon”.
I found a black umbrella in my Sweetheart’ s storage unit and I swore it said “Batman” on it – unfort
unately, when I mentioned this to him, he informed me it was “BAMBI” not “BATMAN”! Today was the first day I got to use it and when I saw him holding the door of our apartment open for me as I carried in the groceries, I broke into a rousing chorus of,” Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Batman” as I ran through the rain!! It was REALLY goofy!!
Drove directly under a cherry blossom tree, opened my moon roof and photographed the tree from my drivers seat looking up through my moon roof opening.
My daughter and I were taking a walk through our development and she was a bit down. I wanted to cheer her up, and talking never cheers her. So, I began humming a tune from “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” (a movie we watched many times during her childhood), and as we came up to each manhole in the road, I rode my powerchair around it, circling each and every one and continuing to hum. She looked at me out of the corner of her eye the first few times I circled them, trying to hide a smile. Finally, she half laughed, half yelled, “What are you doing?” I said, “I’m just spending time with my favorite girl.”
While out Thrift Store shopping with my 13 yr old daughter, tried on (and walked in)some seriously sparkly, blingy 6 in heels!!! wow! those shoes were TALL! …it was fun!
I have stumbled upon a running gag with my daughter, where I talk with a Pepe Le Peu Fractured Franglais accent, and pretend to be a Top Secret Spy (shhh!!!). We both giggle a lot during these pretending sessions!
On Mother’s Day morning, my daughter and I got up early that morning to take pictures of graffiti in the not so nice areas around our city. We had a great time together… especially as we viewed some of the graffiti!!
How sad that I can’t think of anything. Thanks for reminding me that I need to be silly a bit more!
danced for my kitty
LOL, I sang my children’s goodnight song to them in the doctor’s office, because we were bored from waiting.
Talking to animals I encounter every day. Hey mister frog, how are you doing today? Whatcha eating there, squirrel?
I feel the same as Victoria – I want to be silly/goofy more often but never seem to let my guard down and I think that is sad too – really need to work on that. This question is a good reminder of that.
I went out with a friend and our (adult) daughters and we spent the evening looking at and talking about MEN. We laughed and joked and nearly choked on our drinks saying risque things. It was so much fun!
Recovering from surgery I kept my family entertained with my stories of hallucinations from the meds and my constant talking while I slept on the love seat in the living room. I think now that I’m off the meds I’ll try something more of my choosing!
Hard to remember. Being a proper woman, since a child. I’d have to write something I did when I was a child, that was not approved by my parents, but was harmless to happen.
What day is it? Personally, I thrive on goofiness, so I try to do at least one goofy thing a day.
No goofy things – all good fun and light heartedness.
At work, at our coffee bar, we have music piped in. The song from Frozen came on and several of us started singing along.
This happened once in Wegmans while grocery shopping. An old 80s song came on and for some reason a bunch of us were singing along in the aisles. And not apologizing for it ;o)
At work yesterday, I celebrated “National Chocolate Pudding Day”.
The note I posted next to a beautiful/decadent chocolate pudding trifle I brought in to share read, “The wait is over… National Chocolate Pudding Day is FINALLY here!” We had to take a photo of the trifle before anyone was willing to dig in. But once they started, it was gone in a flash.
Played Rock-Paper-Scissors and Foot jousted with co-workers at a team building event.
uhm…i’m kind of just a goof all the time. i warn people to never take me seriously…so i couldn’t even tell you the most recent goofy thing…i suppose it would just be my existence. hee.
It’s been so long since I’ve done goofy stuff.
I do goofy things often, but I remember yesterday and the other person involved told me I brought a smile to her face. Whhhhooooo, Ellen!
I got a reminder call from a doctor’s office and I was pretty sure it was the same person who called me 4 weeks ago. So I told her she sounds so mean that I wouldn’t dare forget or I guess she would hurt me, badly. I told her all the offices knew about her hurting poor patients. She was laughing so hard and I was also. Then she said I put a smile on her face. I will see her this afternoon and am ready to defend myself!
Big problem for me – I am not playful, I don’t play around, or act or do goofy things. Stupid things by accident yes, but I don’t play. I know that this is a flaw.
I drove through a rainstorm with my convertible top down! It was awesome!
I made a crazy hat for a contest made from coffee filters, a coffee pod, tea bags, and sugar and creamer packets, all wired together with twistie ties. It looked pretty goofy when I had to wear it.
I saw a posssum crossing the road as I was driving by. I slowed down & told him he was lucky I didn’t hit him. I told my sister I almost hit a “critter”! (We like to talk in funny accents!)
I like this question! Reading the answers makes me smile!
Havin a wild & crazy dance party with my 6-year-old son. 🙂
Sang both parts of a duet (Old Fashioned Wedding) on video then put them together with movie maker. For the guy’s part, I used my hair and made a fake mustache.
Played tag with the waves at the beach with my grandson. It is a great game!
Wish I could say that I do lots of goofy things but never found it is to let myself let loose and do whatever strikes me. Guess talking to my pets and sometimes animals outside would be the the best I have done.
Lying on the floor with a plastic bag playing with one of my ferrets. My hubby, and even my dog looked at me with a weird look.
Danced in the car with the whole family
I organized Pajama Day at work. We all came to work in pajamas. At lunch time we posed for goofy photos to put up on our work facebook page.
I dove into the ball pit to make the handicapped boy I help laugh. I’m a good sized person and I’ve been all over the playground from slides to the sandbox.
Sorry, I don’t do goofy! and it irritates me when other people do.
Made faces at a rather distressed little person in front of me on a short boat trip, until we were both laughing. I love children!!!
The last goofy thing I did was to take silly pictures with my college aged daughter when we were on vacation–she had me posing in all kinds of crazy places.
The last crazy thing I did was to lead a Laughter Yoga session in mis-matched socks and a parrot hat. So fun!!!
I moved into a new apartment on a 12-month lease when in my heart I just wanted to sell my car and jewelry, put my favorite things in a backpack, and travel around parts of Europe or something. Sigh. Goofy.
Like several others who have posted, I haven’t been in the habit of doing goofy things. Time to start! Love the ideas posted here.
The last guffy thing I did was to meditate (the Art Of Living) in a town square in Vienna Austria
I am always doing goofy things! If you can’t laugh at yourself then who can you laugh at?
Wore nail polish for a week
only one? dancing in the hospital hallways….
I work with kids and do goofy things all the time. Usually wearing funny hats.
At work, I sang out loud while wearing my headphones and listening to my boombox. Unfortunately it was not appreciated. LOL
Piled too many boxes, and almost dropped them all….when I realized I had an audience, I made a big sow of th balancing act. I made strangers smile.
Created art work with a travel iron and crayons
Wore balloon hats out to dinner
Oh let’s see, tripped over my own feet, nearly fell but caught myself, stood up and said, “Ta da!!!” (happens quite a bit)….. guffawed out loud at work (and offered a half-meant apology because whatever it was, *WAS* funny!), and chased my dog around the yard for funsies.
I sang my 30 second promo in a networking group!
Long story short, I went running Saturday with my running group on a red dress run. We all wore red dresses, men included, and ran through Grapevine, TX.
At the New Years Eve costume party I realized half way through the party that my costume was on inside out Hahahaha… Soooo Me!
Nothing yet today, but yesterday while playing cards with friends, I kept asking whose turn it was, just to confuse everyone.
I can’t remember specifically, but I was talking to a GF just the other day, and whatever I said must have been goofy. She said, “I love talking to you! You are alway so silly and make me laugh!” I love making people laugh! Laughter is the best medicine for anything!
Driving to dinner with my granddaughter, kept pulling into areas along the road which said no parking here. It was silly and fun. She’s 12 and almost past the point where I can make her giggle like that. Good question!
Splashed in a mud puddle!
Og
h geez, there is just so many – seriously haha! I would have to say … while waiting for an unusually long time for our food on a dinner date with my husband last week, I started to lip sync to the songs on the radio station they had on – complete with utinsel microphone and long arm/hand gestures… that was goofy enough until I got a standing ovation from my husband …. hahaha, snort,ha hahaha guess we really are made for each other!!!
I do a lot of goofy things. One of my most memorable was earlier this year (while it was still below 30 degrees. Everytime the “Happy” song came on the radio my 18 year old sone and I would open all the car windows and sing it out loud to all the other drivers, while doing the Happy dance in the car. Great moments with my teenage son!!!
dance around in front of my family
I was dancing goofy for my family to get them to laugh.
I am often goofy when I play on the Wii. I dressed pretty goofy on Sunday too…
I danced with my kids on the Las Vegas Strip as we walked around the crazy crowds…
I do hospital clowning each week at the hospital. I get dressed as a clown and try to help people feel well.
Are you kidding me? I am goofy all the time! I just chose a Monty Python quote as my life motto and then did raspberry lips laughing about it! LOL This weekend I attended a Dudeist wedding (http://dudeism.com/) and it was mellow, man. I just have fun all the time so it’s hard to pick one goofy thing!
Opened my mouth to gross out my granddaughter with my chewed food after lecturing her on table manners!
Wow….I do goofy stuff all of the time….hmmm….probably laughed obnoxiously loud at something very goofy, that I did, in a typically “reflective and quiet” place.
Just last weekend, I rode the trolley downtown in order to just walk around and look at the ComicCon goofiness. I had my picture taken with various super hero’s and villains, and I stood in line for an hour to get a picture taken in front of a green screen where they inserted the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles because my sons, and now my grandson, love those guys. I grabbed a couple plastic swords and struck a pose. Just another day . . .
