When we released the results of our Optimism Survey you shared that dealing with negative people was one of your biggest optimism drainers. Sometimes the best way to counteract the effects of dealing with negative people is to increase your interactions with positive people. Fortunately members of the Secret Society of Happy People are some of the most positive people you’ll ever meet.
I think it’s a great idea for us get to know each other a little better 🙂
The BEST way I know to do that is to ask some fun questions over the next few weeks so you can get to know each other better and make some new happy friends.
And, to make this an even HAPPIER experience, everyone who answers all of the questions will get a present from me!
I’m so excited to learn more about everyone!!
I feel most at home when I’m crochetting in my crafts room, or when I’m playing guitar or piano. Painting is also homey for me.
It’s really more a matter of what I’m doing than where I am. I’ve never thought about that before. Thanks for asking the question.
Where my family is… that is where I feel most at home! That’s where I can be me.
I feel most at home at home. My bedroom is my sanctuary. A great place to relax.
I feel most at home practicing my viola in my practice room on the third floor of our house…
I like the sound of a viola. It’s a nice mellow voice, like someone who loves to live and is relaxed about it.
I feel most at home on my sofa with my sweetie watching TV or on my Kindle – or just kicking back!
I feel most at home playing in my garden.
My garden is one of my favourite places, too. When you say “playing in my garden”, do you mean doing things with the plants, or something else? When I play in my garden, I’m getting dirty under my fingernails from moving plants, rearranging a flower bed, moving the compost bin, things like that.
Yes it’s all play when I get my hands into the dirt and I just couldn’t bring myself to call it work.
I am most at home in a library. I could spend endless hours just roving through the shelves, sometimes even straightening them up, just for the pure happiness of being around books.
I feel most at home with my cat in our tiny apartment.
Swimming in the water. The one thing I truly feel confident about is swimming and being in the water. Even if I am just underwater listening to the quiet, it brings me solace.
I feel most at home when I am at the beach!! I just LOVE the salt water. No surprise there, I’m a Cancer!! Crabs and the beach are just a natural fit!!
Second best place is in my kitchen cooking up a feast for the people I love!
I would agree with you!!
(although I am a Sagittarius, if that matters!) ;o)
everywhere! That’s a good thing.
When I’m curled up with a book in my home and it’s peaceful and quiet.
I love to be at home with my daughters watching good movies or our favorite TV programs of adventures, gastronomy,Dr.House or enjoying good videos on you tube.
During summers we ride bycicle and go to swimm at the pool.
Most at home in the woods or by water. Luckily, we have a pond and some woods on our property. So I get to feel “at home” when I’m home. Having my family and my dogs around has a lot to do with that at home feeling.
Although I feel comfortable most places I feel most at home…..at home, surrounded by family. I’ve created a comfortable environment that brings me joy and it’s my favorite place to be.
Mostly home, however, I do travel and stay with friends and family and feel at home with them.
I feel most at home where my friends and Family are….scattered around the world as I have lived in several countries. So I guess I could say I feel at home where I am now and face-booking because all my friends live in my computer
That’s an excellent point about all of your friends living in your computer. I hadn’t thought that way before, but so many of my family and friends are out of state, and I can only “see” them by computer. Sometimes, some of my older family member, who don’t use the computer or Facebook, put down our usage of social media in keeping in contact with others, but I think they’re missing a good thing by not giving it a try. I really love being able to communicate, share pictures, etc. Thanks for your thoughts on the subject!
At home… lol 🙂
At my parents’ house.
In my living room, sitting at my spinning wheel (spinning the wool of my angora rabbits), with some quiet music, a candle and a great cup of tea. Or, with a good book, or knitting or crocheting. Or, reading up on my friends and family on Facebook.
Wherever I can be at peace — sometimes it’s in my house. Sometimes it’s on the coastal sands. Sometimes a mountain bike trail. Sometimes by myself with a good book, even surrounded by plenty of others but just happy in my own space (like at a coffee bar). Other times, with my dearest friends at a girls’ weekend. Pretty much anyplace, I suppose!
I feel most at home when I am with my son. <3
The place I feel most at home, and at peace, is my family's beach house in CT. <3
Another wonderful question. I feel at home crocheting in my new craft room. My hubby is the best, he makes me happy!
…in my comfy king bed, trapped up by my soft, fluffy, fat and cuddly kitty Mika! *mew* ♥
At home, especially in my room, but also at my store when it is closed and no one else is there
My favorite place depends on the season! Spring…take me to a garden/nursery. Summer…sitting on my porch watching golfers go by while reading a great book. Fall…tailgating and entertaining at Notre Dame football games. Winter…curled up in “my” chair by the fire!
Oh my…that is one of the hardest questions for me. Home is anywhere that I am! Home is me – not a place.
I feel most at home where my loved ones are. So around my Family and the kids, that’s home to me
Wherever I am with family.
No question, at the gym!
Spending time with God in my recliner in the mornings with my coffee. I know my son is there with Him.
Cortona, Italy is my fan orbits place on earth and where co feel the most at home
I’ve never felt perfectly at home anywhere. My parents were of southern blood, but I was born in New Jersey (which everybody in the south thinks is New York… I’m from SOUTH Jersey, which is much more like Philly than New York).
So when I was home in NJ, people thought I was southern. When I visited down south, people thought I was NYC.
The closest I’ve felt to ‘at home’ oddly enough was when I visited Hawaii, specifically the Green Island of Kauai. I loved them, they loved me… but that was 26 years ago. I hear they have lost much of their Polynesian nature by now.
I feel at home… at home! My favourite place is in the kitchen at the breakfast table with a nice cup of tea. It’s where I meditate, read and study. Also, I listen to music, watch my favourite videos and communicate with my friends via the internet. I’m a homey kind of person I guess 🙂
why, at home of course! (Isn’t that where all us introverts feel most at home?!)
In the Garden! 🙂
reading a book or working on my puzzle.
I feel most at home on my bed reading, walking with my boyfriend or when im having a glass of wine hanging out with my friends 🙂 Good times!!!
when i am knitting (anywhere) or at a good yarn store
Wherever my family is!
In my bedroom, reading a book, and my dog at the foot of the bed, usually snoring. Pure comfort & joy 🙂
in the arms of my partner.
I feel at home when working a budget with my partner. She’s smart and I’m a good editor. I also feel at home online. Been a part of the online world since the early 1980s.
At home, in bed, cuddled into my pillows and blankets, with my nose in a book!
well, home. making messes.
I feel most at home and my happiest when I am surrounded by family. I love celebrating holidays and events with my children, my brothers and sisters and their children. All my brothers and sisters not only have children, they now have grandchildren. I love the intergenerational interaction which takes place at family gatherings. So special!
As the song goes, anywhere I hang my hat is my home. I don’t know if it’s because I was an Air Force brat, if it’s being christian, having had to travel for my job sometimes, or if it’s being alone in the world now, but I’ve learned to be resiliant and that includes making myself at home whereaver I am.
In a well-kept neighborhood park with a dog at me feet and a healthy lunch in my lap.
I feel most at home in my family room. It is the literal and emotional center of my house and my family.
I feel most at home in my backyard in the summer. The plants and birds create a peaceful environment.
In my house or my parents’ house, late at night when everyone is snug in bed and I’m still awake, reading or working or on the computer.
At home in my comfy chair with my furkids gathered close. That’s a given. With my PEO sisters anywhere! Or at the house of my friends, Julie and Robert. I have been made part of their family.
In my home w/ family or at my daughter’s home.
in nature, especially on the lakeshore at either sunset or sunrise(more likely the first than the second
My backyard in the summertime, my living room when it’s not so warm, always in a comfy chair and with a book.
I feel most at home in my room. I always like to be in my room rather in the rest of the house.
anywhere with my sweetheart.
At home reading, playing games, or being with family.
Yes! 🙂 Home is my favorite place, too! Although I’m friendly, being an introvert makes more comfortable at home. You probably know what I mean.
wherever my husband and children are.
in my recliner with my crazykitty, Bella.
On my couch.
at home of course-there’s no place like home-i guess you now know one of my favorite movies too. all kidding aside i just can’t seem to sleep as well anywhere else but in my own bed.
WofO IS the best movie. The lesson is that we’ve always had everything we need to succeed. Many just don’t realize that they’re smart enough, brave enough and strong enough. The ruby slippers are your self respect. Hang onto those/that, and you’ll be fine. I have the greatest friends but have also met my share of witches and flying monkeys.
Mostly at my Mom’s house – my place of comfort.
I feel most at home when I’m sitting around a table with my husband and all my children and their spouses and my grandchildren.
My place of residence, where I reside with my cat, sleep at night, and have all my personal positions with me.
Reading in bed
my house, because it is my santuary, my haven of comforts, my den where love blooms and happiness beams.
I am most at home at a park with my dogs
I feel most at home, at home, curled up on the Chesterfield watching TV with my good friends, Jasper a pomeraium dog,
In the kitchen baking.
At home with my fiancé and our animals
I feel most at home with a pen in hand (or a keyboard at the end of my fingertips).
I’m most at home in my home knitting or crocheting or reading… Not necessarily in that order. Currently I’m starting to learn how to play World of Warcraft!
i feel pretty much at home wherever i am…i guess i’m comfortable in my own skin?
In my living room with all my three sons and their families
We moved a few months ago and I have had a bit of difficulty with the adjustment. I have found that I feel most at home when I am with my husband. We have been married for 55 years, so it is logical that I am so comfortable with him and I think he feels the same about me. (Sometimes we feel as though we are two old shoes!)
I feel most comfortable in my home in my space called “happiness island” I usually sit their to clear my thoughts and to get myself in a positive and happy stated,
I feel most at home in my kitchen. I love to bake, cook and can garden goodies. The kitchen seems to be the center of our home.
My husband and I have been in our home for 20 years now. We moved a lot before then. I feel at home when I walk through my front door.
I feel most at home wherever and whenever I’m with my family.
There’s a frozen lake surrounded by snow where I go to ice skate. The full moonlight on snow and ice make it as brilliant as day. A large bonfire lights up the night sky on the bank. I’m never cold there or tired and I’m an amazing skater. ( ~_^) This is where I go in my mind to meditate.
I feel most at home when I can relax with a good book.
I feel most at home curled up on my couch with my husband and son, watching movies or having cuddle time in our bed on weekend mornings.
When I am doing some kind of crafting. Whether it is Knitting, card making, or tole painting. The time flies for me and I get lost in the task.
I feel at home at home. I have 2 puppies that are so glad to see me when I come home from work. I have a big back yard that we can play in.
In my apartment working on family history.
At grandma’s old cabin by the fjord just 30 minutes away!
Wisconsin! I miss it. I’ve been gone 10 years.
In my kitchen. I love to cook!
Outside when I’m working in the garden or strolling along the river.
Anywhere my family is. That includes the pets, of course.
Curled up under a warm blanket watching movies with the family or hiking in the woods.
I feel most at home when I am with my family and close friends. It is just “The Best”
I’m most at home on my yoga mat. Sometimes I’m there regularly, sometimes there are stretches of time that I’m away from it. But the centering it brings me is a blessing and it’s where I feel most at home in my heart.
I feel most at home at my boyfriends house.
I feel most at home when I’m with family members, especially my grand children.
In our house surrounded by our family
I feel most at home in a bookstore as I like to browse all the books in the store.
Anywhere my fur-kids are happy – and that is most usually in Alaska 🙂
My home with husband and family and friends
I feel at home whenever I am connected to the flow. Everyday it is a different place (my art studio, my garden, the beach, the woods, driving, listening to music).
I have taken over a spare bedroom in our house. I have just about everything I need to be happy: recliner, books, TV/DVD/DVR, laptop, ipad, craft supplies, phone, puppy, etc. plus room for other humans to visit!
At home …
I feel most at home when I am with my family. We are scattered but when we get together it is heaven
There are actually many places where I feel most at home. My parents home will always be “home” but there are many other places too. One special place is out in nature – in the woods.
I feel most at home snuggled up on the sofa with my daughter and my pets.
I have to say at work! I absolutely love my job. I love what I do, who I work with and the company I work for. Who could ask for more.
In the mountains – which happens to be where I live – lucky me!
in my recliner with my laptop in my lap socializing with my friends.
In my little nest. I love my home.
I feel at home and at peace playing guitar.
Anytime and anyplace my husband is when he is not working feels like home … but actually within my home – my studio … it centers me, it heals me, and it lets me create from my heart. (p.s. my husband brings his laptop in there just to be with me sometimes… best feeling ever!!!)
I feel most at home sitting on my deck.
Sitting on my deck smelling the gardenias.
I am most at home in my apartment where it’s decorated the way I like it. My fish bring me peace as I chat with them and watch them swim around. I have a great sound system and my favourite music is “The Blues” so I crank it up and get myself a cold iced tea and sit back and enjoy!
In my own lovely , peaceful living room. I feel blessed.
when I am with my family
I feel most at home in my bedroom. I love my cozy bedroom where I can relax and read a book.
I feel most at home around good friends and family – and just relaxing. I like it best when we aren’t doing anything special, just being together.
My office at home.
I feel most at home in the arms of my sweetheart. I also feel “at home” in the classroom where I’ve taught the last 20+ years, as well as curled up on my living room sofa with something yummy to eat or great to read.
LOL I love this question. I feel the most at home….AT HOME! I actually love my office and spend most of my day there. The colors are warm gold and wood natural colors so it feels all warm and bright in there, and it’s pretty. But I also just LOVE our bedroom. The colors are burgundy and gold so it feels all rich and decadent, and it’s cool and utterly fluffy comfy in there–YUM!
At the beach!
I feel most at home wherever/whenever I can use my “passions” in life, whether it be teaching, learning, reflecting….that space where the requirement of my energy is effortless.
I feel most at home on my living room couch, either watching TV or reading a book, with my mini Chi “Prissy” snuggled up next to me.
