We’re on Question 4 of our members share so we can get to know each other better.
Why should you answer these questions and read the answers?
Our Optimism Survey results said that dealing with negative people was one of your biggest optimism drainers. The best way to keep your happy when dealing with unhappy people is to surround yourself with others who are like minded. Secret Society of Happy People members are some of the most positive people you’ll ever meet.
The BEST way I know to do that is to ask some fun questions over the next few weeks so you can get to know each other better and make some new happy friends.
And, to make this an even HAPPIER experience, everyone who answers all of the questions will get a present from me!
You can answer the questions until we quit asking them:
I just LOVE this question Pamela!! I would be sitting on the beach working on some website upgrades and getting a nice tan at the same time!! Maybe even sipping one of those fun cocktails with an umbrella in it!!
Oh wow. What would I do? The first thought I have is of stringing up a hammock in a park full of greenery and lay in the quiet afternoon air. Just lay there.
I think I would phone a friend and spend the day at Dow Gardens. It’s a beautiful day outside today to enjoy.
I would do a variety of things that I already seem to do on a regular basis. They include playing my viola, watching a bit of TV, and enjoying mealtimes and/or snacks with my husband…
Sleep and then sleep SOME more
I would rise early and take pictures of nature in the dew.
Great question. If such a day without a single responsibility came my way, I would go bird-watching and read a novel under a tree in the bush and after that I would play the game of pool while listening to music on the juke box. But then, even these look like responsibilities!
Read, read, read. Then I’d read some more.
Read or watch a movie. 🙂 Sounds lovely!
Definitely play with the dogs. I’m not sure which of us would enjoy that more. Me, or the dogs.
I´d like to meet my friends,go to the movies or to the theaters with my husband and daughters.Making some cupcakes with my daughter, etc.I can imagine a thousand more it´s an endless list…
take pictures, knit, have a cuppa tea and read.
A day off with no cares…I’d putter around the house changing out little vignettes or if it’s sunny, work out in the yard and soak up the rays or maybe volunteer in my son’s classroom. A trip to one of our local antique malls with a couple girlfriends might be in order.
spend time with myself ! Reading, watching a movie, cooking and just pottering around the house.
I wouldn’t know what to do with myself! Lol, I would probably do questions like this all day 😉 Or maybe go get me a cookie with a LOT of icing on it 😀
Spin, knit/crochet or read.
Go to my family’s beach house and soak up the sun while listening to some great music.
If it was raining, I would still go to the beach house, but I would get lost in a good book on the screened in porch, while listening to the rain… <3
Funny you should ask – I’m taking a sick day today because I really am sick. 🙁 BUT if I had a day with no real responsibilities, no deeds to do or promises to keep ….. I’d sleep late (first thing), I’d probably spend the day catching up on reading or writing …. maybe sleep some more (horridly sleep deprived). OR, I’d book myself a spa day: a good massage, mani-pedi, maybe a hair treatment…. aaaaah!!
hmm, don’t have to think about this question! I would attempt to finish my wip’s! Thanks for asking!
Today I would find a tv series that I haven’t watched and catch up on seasons and seasons and seasons.
One of two things:
Sitting on a warm beach someplace working (or at least trying to)
or
Taking a hike in the woods – maybe along a river
Catch up with old friends or simply play with the kids or listen to music while thinking back in my life
Go for a long walk or go kayaking, or read a book at the lake
I’d take Bob Seger’s advice:
“Just take those old records off the shelf, I sit alone and listen by myself!”
Volunteer at the animal rescue.
After spending time with God, I would spend time with my grandchildren!
If I didn’t live in AZ I’d be at the beach! Sipping a rum drink!
Oh boy, no responsibilities? How exciting!! I have a list of things, in no specific order . . .
sleep, do a fun activity with my kids and husband – go for a bike ride, play a game outside, go for a hike, walk, anything as long as we are together!! read, cook, play with my dog, and spend some time alone. One can dream . . .
I’d probably go out to the movies, then have some lunch or dinner (depending on the time)
Kick back and sew some clothes, make some music, dance, work out. And eat.
ha ha, I’m retired, so almost every day looks like this! What do I do? As the joke says, anything I want to. Usually that means reading, spending wayyyy too much time on the computer, playing with my dog, walking, watching TV … Life is Good
Go for a long walk.
seat back and enjoy the beauty that I see out of my front porch.
I would seat on my front porch and enjoy thre beauty.
Probably reading on the couch or a beach somewhere – cooking up a storm in the kitchen or going for a nice relaxing run with my boyfriend 🙂
Read a book on my porch with a cup of coffee!
Knitting, researching knitting patterns… or looking in to fine art with crayolas yes there is really such a thing and some day i am going to learn the craft… ok i wanted to give you a few links but it won’t let me leave any… so google fine art with crayons. Jeffery Roberts art is amazing. and so are the others but I really like the Jeffery stuff.
I’d really like to go to a movie, or even go get a pedicure. Maybe both 🙂
Go to the beach and read the novel I’ve been trying to get to for the past three months!
Sleep. I have sleep apnea and it interferes with my sleep so I’d be taking a lot of naps.
Alternate naps with reading.
I would spend a LOT of time in bed with a book, a bit of time at a movie theater, and the rest doing relaxing things like internet surfing or taking a hot bath.
Read. Terry Pratchett or Neil Gaiman or Rick Riordan.
I would write!
First I’d go for a run. It’s so hard to find time to do it and it makes me feel great and more energetic. Then I’d go to the cafe around the corner and have a big veggie omelette for breakfast. Then I’d take a nap, or read, or a million other things!
I’d knit and read and play the piano and just kick back and have a totally relaxed day. Heaven!
I would go to Glacier Park and hike.
Read. If it’s nice, outside in the shade. If not, snuggled on my couch. Hopefully with my cats lounging on me or nearby.
Then I’d cook something really yummy. Maybe bake. Something that makes the house smell good and feels creative and exciting to be making.
Then… Hmm, how to relax and rejuvinate without being BUSY 🙂 So much fun to be had!!
Sleep in a little. Then drive up ten coast thru the redwoods or south through the Avenue o the Giants, That’s the old highway awnd it goes under the redwoods. Hey I live in the heart of the redwood empire & I love them! Find a nice place for lunch and read home to read a book and play with the dogs and cats. Sigh…
Travel or craft. I sew, scrap book & make jewelry.
People watching and eavesdropping for fiction writing inspiration at the mall, the park or on the beach, or all three at intervals
Drive to the beach and take a long walk on the sand with my dogs! Can I go now? Please?
I have an art project involving logs, tree limbs, and a pressure washer that I would return to.
Read or watch a movie or spend time with family.
Oh my goodness, Pamela! You’re letting me loose on the world with this question! I am not responsible for my actions!
I would book a flight to Alaska, to a spot with a cabin and a view of the northern lights, then fly home early the next morning. I’d be tired, but it would be soooo worth it.
watch TV with my super soft, cuddly sweet, fat kitty!!! ♥
zone out watching endless tv
Lounge at the beach.
read read read & then read some more.
Beach, book, drink, nap, repeat 🙂
Ahhh what a nice thought! I’s sit out in my rocking chair on my patio with a book and a nice cool drink.
What I’m doing now…being retired and very involved in life finally.
Go down to the waterfront and chill to the sound of the waves breaking on the shore as I people watch
Drive………..
Call a friend and suggest we do lunch.
I have this come up from time to time. If the weather is not too good, I like that I can stay home and veg on the sofa and watch tv and not feel like I’m squandering a beautiful day.
If it’s a beautiful day, I would definitely take a drive or do something that gets me outside a bit.
Gosh, no responsibilities? Read all day!
I would travel round the world sharing happiness with everyone I meet.
i’d probably just be lazy…curl up with a book. take a nap.
I like to go boonie crashing in my 1988 Jeep Cherokee!
I had had no responsibilities I would be doing crafts of some sort. I enjoy working with paper and I do origami, I use rubber stamps to make cards, and I paste and color paper to make ornaments. I also enjoy knitting, hence much yarn abides in our closets. I am easily bored so would probably switch from one to the other every 30 minutes or so.
sleep and read and sleep and read
I’d go to visit my mom. (She’s 2 1/2 hours away.) 🙁
Enjoy a leisurely walk in the Rocky Mountains.
I would find a quiet place to read.
I would get up, eat something, watch TV or a movie for a while, go back to bed & sleep for a while, get up, eat something else, read a good book, and then eat more, watch TV more, read more and go to bed late! 🙂
Sleep. Call my friends. Watch old movies. Stay in my PJs. Do my nails. Get out the blonde box of color and stare at it longer than usual, then put it back. Write snail-mail letters. Take a nap. Take a bubble bath, Go out for Thai. Walk on the beach. Watch the stars. Stay up late.
Take the dogs and the pop up and go to the lake. It would be so relaxing
Work on family history and maybe take a nap
Read a new book or start a small indoor herb garden.
Lay in bed and watch HGTV
Read, bake, sit on the patio with a cup of tea.
I might actually work on scrapbooking. I am only a year or so behind.
Sit in the swing in our garden and read.
Curl up downstairs on my new couch with my Kindle and read. Could probably get three books read if I had all day.
That’s easy. I’d hang out outdoors just relaxing or taking a long walk with no place special to be at the other end. Then I’d grab a good book, a cup of tea, and a frosted pastry as a treat while I sat and read–more than just one chapter or a few pages before needing to get up and do something. 🙂
If I had no responsibilities for the day, I would gather my closest friends and we would “play” all day!!! FUN TIMES!!!!
I have designed most of my days that way, anyway! But I guess I love the feeling of setting aside a full day to road trip in whatever direction moves me….listen to music….find a cool lunch spot….listen to more music…..maybe end up at a spot to watch the sunset before the drive back home 🙂
Just wait for inspiration, then go do it.
If I had no responsibilities for the day I would lay in my hammock listening to music and stare into the clouds to see what interesting cloud formations I can identify.
I would be in the water somewhere…pool, beach, lake, river, and just hang out.
Spend a day at the beach, either swimming or taking photos of nature.
Snuggle with the fur-kids until the sun shines then spend the afternoon talking to the Stellar Jays on the deck tending their greediness with extra peanuts
I would sew–my grandmother and I would sew together when I was young. I grew up loving it, but raising my family has given me little time to cross-stitch and quilt– activities I love and long to do.
Enjoy a fun day with family
Pedicure, trip to the Isles of Shoals, and like any other day: create.
I would spend the day with my 98 year old mother.
Ah … catch up on a project that I haven’t been able to find time for.
I would be sitting at the beach with drink in hand!
I’d go take a walk in the woods!
I would wander through some thrift stores to see what treasures I could find.
Read a book all day, preferably in my jammies!
I am learning how to paint, a talent I never knew I had. Sitting in a tropical setting painting the scenary sounds just lovely.
I love going too lunch, luncheons, and events with my Red and Black Hat girlfriends!
I’m retired so I fill my days with what I want. During the school year I volunteer at my grandson’s school a couple of days each week. I also spend time at the county animal shelter. Other than that, I read, cook, watch way too much TV and spend time with friends and family. Life is great.
I would lie in bed and try to find the answers to where I want to GI with my life.
I would lie in bed and search for answers as to what is troubling me.
I would get some wine, grab my sketchbook, pencils and my poem book and go down to the lake and write poetry and sketch to my heart’s content!!!
Sitting on my deck enjoying my flower garden.
I would fill it with crafting or reading. Maybe even a little afternoon nap after a walk on the beach.
read my book 🙂
I would sleep, read a book, and watch a movie. This would be the perfect day!
I’d go play outside somewhere – hiking in the beautiful mountains or even wandering around the zoo. Nature makes me feel peaceful.
Take a long walk along the canal, drink decaf coffee and read my emails, do some photography outside, see a foreign film, read the NY times, talk to a friend, shop for something that I didn’t need, plan for my next trip.
Great question… so many possibilities! I would walk on the beach, go to a movie, read a book, write some letters, eat something decadent, talk with friends, do a little scrapbooking, play the piano… my summer vacation has begun, so I can now do any and all of these things as much as I want to – hooray!
Same thing I always do: try to take over the world. LOL 😀 Okay that’s partially true. If I didn’t have any responsibilities I would sleep in a little, I would play on the computer (because I love video games), I would read and drink a cup of coffee, and I would cook. YAY!!
Read!
Read!
If I didn’t have any responsibilities for the day, I would start by taking an extra long walk but not as exercise or for speed/time; just for the experience. Then I’d take a long soak in a hot tub with my book. Then I’d go sit by the ocean (or the pool, depending on the weather) and read some more, with a cup of coffee in a thermal mug. I’d call my daughter and we’d chat, I’d say hi to my grandkids if they’d stay still long enough to take the phone, and then I’d make myself a real dinner, and then I’d pour my favorite glass of wine and watch the latest recorded version of my favorite TV show.
