When we released the results of our Optimism Survey in our last blog you shared that dealing with negative people was one of your biggest optimism drainers. Sometimes the best way to counteract the effects of dealing with negative people is to increase your interactions with positive people. Fortunately members of the Secret Society of Happy People are some of the most positive people you’ll ever meet.
I thought it would be great if we get to know each other a little better.
We’re going to ask questions for the next few weeks so you can get to know each other better and make some new happy friends.
Also, everyone who answers all of the questions will be given a present from me.
I can’t wait to learn more about you!!!

Elton John, Charlotte NC, October 1989 – I was in college (yeah, late bloomer, I know). It was postponed from the original date of 9/22 — Hurricane Hugo came through the area and postponed everything! But he was wonderful enough to reschedule, and it was 3 hours of FABULOUS music. Lots of fun with me and my pals from college. Got home about 4 am (I think) and managed to make it to my 9:25 class the next morning (of course, I wore my concert tee!)….. promptly crashed that afternoon, but worth it all!

Must have been John Denver in Landover, Maryland, probably in 1970. No, no. It was Peter Paul and Mary the year before… Oh, and then there was the group that sang “Cherish”… but that was more of a dance in a school gym. I’ll stick with PPM.
I think it was Kenny Rogers
My really sweet aunt and wonderfully wacky uncle had two extra tickets to America and Starship, and they asked my sister (11 years old) and me (12 years old) to go with them. It was fabulous! I really loved it. I didn’t know all of America’s songs, but they were really fun to listen to. When Starship came on second, they were extremely LOUD! So loud, in fact, my uncle didn’t want to stay because it hurt his ears. I begged him to stay until I got to hear “We Built This City.” It was only a few songs in (thank goodness) so we stayed long enough and I got to hear it…hooray! This was over 30 years ago now. One of the funniest things, though, is that about ten years ago I heard that “We Built This City” was named the worst song of all time! It’s hilarious and I love it! I’m still giggling about it.

Wow I can’t remember! It’s been so long and I’ve been to so many. I think the first one that was “I bought the ticket and went myself” was either Elton John in his freaky Kiki Dee years, or a concert in Milwaukee, WI with REO as the opener and Chicago as the headliner! That was a crazy concert and I think it was 1973 or so.
