When The Society started in 1998 there weren’t any holidays that recognized happiness – or at least if there were no one really knew about them.
To celebrate our first birthday the Society declared August 8, Admit You’re Happy Day that we later changed to Happiness Happens Day. The following year we expanded the celebration to include the whole month of August — because some people informed me that they might not be able to celebrate on August 8 so now they had 30 other days to be happy. We eventually added Hunt for Happiness Week.
We hope you want to celebrate happiness with us – and all of the other happy days that have since popped up including the UN’s International Day of Happiness on March 20.
