The Secret Society of Happy People is happy to announce the Happiest Events and Moments of 2012:

5.  Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel became the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy.

4.  Gabby Douglas’s talent and smile captured our hearts when she became the first African-American to win the Olympic all-around gold in gymnastics at age 16.

3.  Viral YouTube videos kept us smiling, singing and dancing: “Gangnam Style” by South Korean pop star Psy, officially passed one billion YouTube views and “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen got everyone from the Harvard Baseball team to Miami Dolphin Cheerleaders to Cookie Monster releasing their own YouTube lip-synched versions of the song.

2.  The 50 Shades of Gray trilogy got everyone reading, thinking and talking about sex — to the tune of almost 40 million copies sold worldwide – reminding us that sex makes virtually everyone happy.

1.  The world was relieved and amused on December 21, 2012, when the infamous Mayan calendar end of the world prediction proved to be another false alarm. So we’re now getting ready to ring in a Happy 2013.

What do you think was the happiest moment of 2012?
